Leaving child alone in car may become illegal in Manchester

The Manchester Board of Aldermen on Dec. 7 considered a bill that would make it illegal to leave children 10 years of age or younger alone in a vehicle. The board held a first reading of the bill, which would be added to the city’s child endangerment laws. If approved, a child ages 14 or older could accompany the younger child in a vehicle and that would not be considered endangering the child.

Murder-suicide shocks Manchester

Tragedy struck the city of Manchester on Jan. 11 when 66-year-old Frank W. Kavano shot his wife, Patricia W. Kavano, to death and then turned the gun on himself after being served with a restraining order, authorities said.

Patricia Kavano’s daughter from a previous marriage made the grisly discovery at 925 Brookvale Terrace after she did not hear from her mom on Sunday night and became worried, police said.
