The sculpture “The Awakening” began its long-awaited installation on Sept. 21 in Chesterfield’s Central Park.

Stacey Morse, director of Chesterfield Arts, and Chesterfield Mayor John Nations were on hand to witness the event.

“Just the physical nature of the piece is a tremendous enhancement to Chesterfield’s quality of life, and to the whole region,” Nations said. “Here it is, in the center of the city, capturing all the elements of art, imagination and fun. We’re fortunate to have it and very proud.”

Morse said that the official unveiling, scheduled for Oct. 10, “will be a day to remember.”

To read more about the sculpture, see the Sept. 30 issue of West Newsmagazine.
