UPDATED WITH NAMES: Early-morning motor vehicle accident results in fatality
The Creve Coeur Police Department reported that at approximately 5:43 a.m. today (March 16), a motorcycle and passenger car collided at the intersection of Craig Road and Olive Blvd. in Creve Coeur. Officials said that both vehicles were eastbound on Olive.
Officials said that apparently, the driver of the passenger car lost control and struck the motorcycle, which was in an adjacent lane. The motorcyclist, who Creve Coeur Police identified as 26-year-old David Null, of Town & Country, was ejected.
Responding officers attempted to revive Null, but were unsuccessful, officials said. Null died at the scene.
Officials said that the driver of the passenger vehicle has been identified as Judy Tran, 20, of the 4900 block of Bonita in St. Louis. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney has charged Tran with involuntary manslaughter, assault in the second degree and possession of marijuana.
Officials said that the initial investigation points to the fact that Tran was distracted. Officials said she apparently took her eyes off the roadway to wake up a passenger in the front seat.
Tran was taken into custody at the scene, officials said.
The Creve Coeur Police Department was assisted by the CTIU (Criminal Traffic Investigations Unit), St. Louis County Police Department and MoDOT (Missouri Department of Transportation) Motorist Assist.
