New Wentzville elementary school receives grant from Wal-Mart
Discovery Ridge Elementary, one of the Wentzville School District's two new elementary buildings scheduled to open in August, has received a $3000 grant from the Lake Saint Louis Wal-Mart.
According to Discovery Ridge Principal Laura Bates, the grant will be used to purchase equipment that will benefit all students. "Discovery Ridge appreciates this generous grant from our local Wal-Mart store," Bates said. "The funds - which will be used to purchase a sound system - will enable the school community to enjoy assemblies, graduations, and student performances."
The grant is part of the Wal-Mart Foundation's commitment to communities across the country. According to Wal-Mart's corporate website, "by supporting education, the Wal-Mart Foundation ensures that the leaders of tomorrow have access to the quality education opportunities they need to be successful today."
Discovery Ridge is currently under construction and is located at 2523 Sommers Road in O'Fallon between Hwy. N and Hwy. DD.
