Wentzville Best Buy closed during bomb search

By:
Amy Armour

Police took a St. Peters man into custody at the Wentzville Best Buy after he threatened to hurt himself and others.

Wentzville police were called to the Best Buy about 1 p.m. on Sept. 29.  The man, who had just walked into the store, continued to talk threats against himself and others, police said.

Police Capt. Kevin Pyatt said while in transport for an evaluation the subject warned police not to touch his car because it was “wired.”

“The full bomb squad responded…it was determined there was not a bomb,” Pyatt said. The Best Buy was evacuated for two hours and re-opened that afternoon.

Pyatt said charges had not been filed against the man, but he remains in custody.
