'Bark For Life' event to help in fight against cancer

Bark For Life, a noncompetitive walk event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer, is coming to the St. Charles County area.

Bark For Life will be held from 9 a.m. until noon, March 13, at Timberland High School in Wentzville. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. There will be canine agility activities, vendors, contests and drawings, grooming, micro-chipping, nail clipping, and Relay For Life team fundraising activities. Prizes will be awarded to the Best Relay Dog and Best Dressed Dog, among many others.

All dogs must be on a leash and up to date on their vaccinations. Owners should come prepared to clean up after their dog.

By supporting Bark For Life, you are helping create a world with less cancer and more birthdays by saving lives. Register today at relayforlife.org/barkwesternstcharlesmo. Registration is $10 per canine prior to the event, and $15 per canine on the day of the event. The fee includes a bandana for each dog and silicone bracelet for each owner.

"Give Bark For Life a chance," said Teresa Durbala, chair of the Bark For Life event. "It presents a big opportunity to fight cancer in a more unique way, and the promise of participants coming together for a few hours to show support is truly amazing."

All Bark For Life proceeds will benefit the Relay For Life of Western St. Charles, held at Timberland High School from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on April 16-17. To register or learn more about the Relay For Life event, visit relayforlife.org/westernstcharlesmo.

For more information about either event, contact Teresa Durbala at (636) 327-3988 or teresadurbala@wentzville.k12.mo.us.

The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than 3 million volunteers, they fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community.
