Holt and Timberland thespians honored at Cappies Awards
Drama students from both Timberland and Holt high schools were honored for their performances this year at the sixth annual St. Louis Cappies Gala held May 23. The Cappies (Critics and Awards Program) is a national organization with groups in major cities like St. Louis that train drama students to be theater critics.
The students then travel to high schools in their area to view and critique student productions on everything from singing and acting to set design and sound effects.
The student critics vote at the end of the year for their favorites in 14 categories and the top nominees are honored at the Cappies Gala, with a winner in each category announced that evening. At this year's banquet, 10 Holt students and three Timberland students were recognized as nominees and Holt senior Carlysle Garland received the top honor as Outstanding Female Dancer in a Production for her role in "The Pajama Game."
