  • Shoe drive

Students in the Middle School Leadership Corps at Twin Oaks Christian School in Ballwin hold a shoe drive, challenging fellow students, staff members and members of the community to bring in 200,000 pairs of shoes, new or used, to be donated to the Shoeman Water Project of Eagle Wings Ministry. The goal of 200,000 pairs of shoes was chosen because that is enough to buy one drilling rig and towing vehicle to drill 12 wells per year in Kenya. The shoes are sold for 35 cents per pound and end up in South America where they can be purchased for pennies. Money earned is used for equipment that provides clean water to the communities. Shoes may be dropped off at the main school entrance (1230 Big Bend Road in Ballwin, at the corner of Hwy. 141 and Big Bend). Shoestrings should be tied, or shoes should be rubber-banded together. For more information, call 861-1901.
